Puck rarely lost at anything, whether by luck, skill, or extreme brute force. Determination was definitely one of his stronger points, and he also had to admit that being beaten by Fin was a little embarrassing. Granted, it wasn't exactly a competition between the two, but in case Fin was keeping track as well, Puck wanted him to know that he was in the lead. Subtly, of course.
First Rachel had scared that Sunshine chick right into the arms of New Directions, which wasn't a big surprise. Rachel was hot and all, but there were times she could be a controlling bitch. It was no wonder the girl had run in the exact opposite direction. Still, it didn't help the glee club's cause (not that Puck would ever admit out loud to liking Glee Club and wanting it to succeed... at least, not out loud when anyone outside of Glee could hear.) Then Puck had stumbled blindly into that Sam kid's path, and had dragged him to Schue. That definitely put Puck behind one body, even if Sam was still waffling about joining.
He had been thinking about that, and whether or not he had time to stop at the vending machine, when he heard something that caught his attention and made him turn from his path to the choir room and into the hallway behind the auditorium. This particular hallway wasn't used often by anyone other than the drama department, and Puck could count on one hand the number of times he had actually been through here, but it was pretty straightforward, as far as hallways went. The auditorium was dark, only the emergency lights shining against the hardwood floor, and it took Puck a moment to realize where the sound was coming from. The girl was small and birdlike, and Puck wasn't sure if he had ever seen her before, but something about her was vaguely familiar.
He listened to her for a moment before smiling. He had definitely just beat Fin in one single shot.

Liza could almost feel her windpipe close down as Noah Puckerman literally dragged her into the choir room by her arm.
She wasn't quite sure whether he meant to drag her or not- she was small, at least a foot shorter than him, and he was walking very quickly. She couldn't have kept up if she wanted to, and it wasn't very hard to understand that she definitely didn't want to be there, not now or ever. Fortunately for Liza, there were only three other people in the room- Rachel Barry, McKinley High's number one diva (who Liza found sort of obnoxious,) Puck himself, and Mr. Schuester, Liza's Spanish teacher.
She highly doubted any of them knew her name, or remembered anything about her. She took ballet with Rachel, Puck had no reason to know her at all (current abduction aside,) and she had never said a word to Mr. Schuester, despite being in his class for two years now. Most people thought Liza was a mute... a rumor she tried very, very hard to keep running.
Unfortunately, Noah Puckerman had found out that wasn't so true. He shoved her forward, barring her path to the door as her blue eyes went rapidly from face to face, then to the only exit, so far away. "Mr. Schue." Puck said with a note of self importance. "I have found our newest member."
Perhaps she could fake them out. Refuse to talk, make Puck look like an idiot. Then again, Puck could easily pick her up and drop her in the trashcan, a fate worse than being slushied. He was big, and much stronger- his grip had shown that.
"Do what you were just doing in the auditorium." Puck suggested to her, his voice oddly, dare she say it, somewhat gentle. Like he almost wanted her to be there, to sing for them. Yeah right. She looked away from him, rubbing her arm where he had touched her as if hurt. She could feel them staring at her, feel her skin crawling. It was a horrible feeling, and she was pretty sure her face was bright red- it was definitely hot enough.
"Come on. It's fine." Puck urged again, and this time Liza shook her head ever so slightly no. She had never meant for anyone to hear her, had she even realized that anyone was still in the building at all she never would have started singing.
Puck was staring at her too, she was sure of it, and Liza raised her gaze from the floor to glance around again, still weighing her options of escape. Mr. Schuester probably thought she was retarded- most people did. Rachel was... hard to read. Liza took a moment to stare at the other girl, then her gaze tore away again as Puck moved to the piano, playing a chord softly. Liza closed her eyes, it was an unfair manipulation on his part, how could she say no to such a beautiful melody?
Keeping her eyes closed, she took a deep breath and opened her mouth, the words spilling out like liquid. At the conclusion of "Blackbird" by the Beatles, she closed her eyes again, feeling sick. It took so much out of her to sing like that, like the perfect little bird in a cage.
Oh God, they were still staring. Could someone put her out of her misery and kill her now?

"Rachel, I know you like that song, but it'd be too difficult for-" Will looked up when Puck, and Liza came into the room. Puck, who obviously had a good grip on the poor girl's arm, couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "Puck, you're going to tear off the poor girl's arm off. I didn't know you sang Liza!" In fact, he didn't know much about the girl, except that she was a good spanish student. He also didn't like the rumor going around about her being a mute. She's just... shy? Yeah, that's the word. Really shy. He had, though, suspected the same at a time. Itdidn't have it anywhere saying she was mute on her permanent record. So he just kept it to himself.
He watched quietly as Liza shook her head no, and couldn't help but frown a little. "Puck don't make her sing if she doesn't want to." Knowing Puck he was just doing this to get ahead of Rachel, and Quinn, and Finn. He was about to object once more, until she starting singing.
Will was literally left speechless at this girl's performance. She had the right tone, and the perfect vowel shapes, and actually knew the words! A wide smile spread across his mouth, and he turned to Rachel, to see her reaction. Her face set in a cold, deathly look. Uhoh. Yeah, whatever. He turned back to Liza, with his smile. "That was.... Perfect!"

"Oh come on Schue! You know you like Eminem!" "Rachel, I know you like that song, but it'd be too difficult for-" Rachel also looked up to the two approaching figures. Of course she recognized one of them, Puck. But she barley remembered the other girl. Where was she from? She remembered the face, but just couldn't place it. "Puck, you're going to tear off the poor girl's arm off. I didn't know you sang Liza!" Liza? Oh yeah! The mute chick who took ballet with her. She quietly leaned back in her chair and had a slight smirk on her face. This was a lost cause Puck, she thought to herself. She couldn't imagine this chick being a singer, when she nevered talked. Like, at all.
"Puck don't make her sing if she doesn't want to." "I agree." Her statement was shortened by Puck walking over to the piano and playing a soft chord on the piano. She rolled her eyes at Puck, and watched Liza actually open her mouth for once.
It took her a minute to realize, that Liza was actually better than herself. She gripped her blank sheet music, and let her face fall into a stone cold glare. No, way. There was no one who was suppose to be better than her. Like, ever. It's always been her. Never anyone else. When the song ended, Rachel was half way out of her chair, glaring. Although, she was angry at her for being good, she had many ideas popping into her head, very quickly. She turned to Schue and blinked lightly. "Yeah. She's okay.

As he played, Puck couldn't help but smirk at the expression on Rachel's face. It was good for her to see that she wasn't the only contender out there, and it was pretty funny to be the one that had a hand in bringing her down a notch. Puck didn't often go out of his way to be deliberately cruel to a chick, but there were times that Rachel seriously pissed him off.
Like now.
"Yeah, she's okay."
"Okay?" Puck snorted. "You're just jealous 'cause she's better than you." He stood up, raising a brow at her. "It's not just the singing, either..." He said solemnly, and he saw Liza turn her head to look at him, panic across her pale face. "She doesn't talk. You should take lessons, Rachel!"

"That was.... Perfect!"
At Mr. Schue's comment, Liza's gaze flew up and her face definitely burned. She hated praise worse than attention- praise meant people were developing expectations for you, and Liza could never live up to any expectations that anyone had of her. She wasn't good enough, and this was a bad idea. If Puck weren't so tall, she would slap him and then walk off, because she could already feel anguished tears burning in her eyes. It would only make the situation all the more mortifying if she started crying.
Christ. Now they were fighting, over her nonetheless. Or, well, about her, and yet not at all. Liza took a step back, away from them, hoping they'd simply forget about her and leave her alone. She didn't want this, she didn't even want to be here.
"She doesn't talk. You should take lessons, Rachel!"
Even Liza knew that Puck had hit a sore spot on the other girl, and she made a small noise in the back of her throat, willing the words to come, to tell them to stop... but she couldn't. She squeezed her eyes shut, hoping it would all just end.

Rachel turned a color that she didn't even think had a name. Her face became pinker than pink. "SHUT UP PUCK! You don't need to make fun of me twenty four seven." She crossed her arms over her chest and looked for Schue for guidance. He wasn't going to let Puck get away with this, right? That would just be ridiculous. He wants to help people in need right? Then help! Gee, maybe poor little Rachel needed some type of defense...
Schue's face just became blank. He couldn't really not agree with Puck, but he also didn't want to hurt Rachel. He sighed, and looked at Puck. "Apologize, now." His stern voice should make him think twice. Even though the scolding was bull shit. He watched Liza, and Puck, waiting for an apology from him. She did really well, but of course Rachel and Puck had to go and terrify the girl. She never talked in the first place, and maybe this was why.
